Applied Sociology

Applied Sociology courses are used to fulfill the declared Minor in Sociology degree requirements as well as for GE requirements. Students of Applied Sociology will study such topics as culture, socialization, institutions, groups, deviance, social stratification, social control, and social conflict. Further, students of the Sociology Program will receive information and experiences in Quantitative, Qualitative, Mixed Research Methods plus Sociological Theory. An example of some of the Applied Sociology Courses offered at Dixie State University are Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Sociology of the Family, Stratification and Inequality, Social Psychology, Globalization, and Organizations in Society.
